Spring and Fall Clean-ups Organic matter such as leaves are an essential ingredient to maintaining nutrient dense, living soil. However, there is a difference between the forest floor and a landscape bed. Leaves and herbaceous perennial material must be cleaned up to some degree in the residential landscape setting.
